Overview:

SHOTDENFREUDE is an isometric, multi-player game focused on evading enemy players and reaching the goal point to secure a point. Players assume the roles of four stylish characters each with distinctive hairstyles.

The game is broken down into two groups, the kicker and the outfield players. The kicker must shoot the ball then sprint to the end of the map in order to score a point. The outfield players are spread throughout the playing field, their objective is to obtain the ball and strike the kicker.

Several factors make striking the kicker quite a challenge. For instance, whichever player is in possession of the ball cannot move, they must throw it to regain movement controls. They are only able to throw with a certain amount of power.

The kicker is given more speed after kicking the ball, allowing them to be slightly faster than the opposing side.

The kicker position will not change until they are hit by the ball.

Role:

  • Designed individual player traits and shooter position mechanics.

  • Assisted in the creation of environmental assets

  • Created UI art screens

Challenges:

  • Had to go through multiple versions of characters so none would look similar

  • Had to condense the number of assets

Learning Outcomes:

  • Could have used one base character and simply modify it a little to create different characters. This saves time and allows me to move on to the next task at hand.
