Overview:

Gem Gem Jam is a single-player puzzle game focused on directing your gems towards safety. 

The player acts as a navigator and is able to place beacons anywhere in the game world that would influence the behavior of the Gems. Each Gem will automatically walk forward, however, when they pass within the field of a beacon, they will begin to walk in the direction the beacon is facing instead.  

Several factors make directing your gems quite a challenge. The map is broken down into several different tiles each with its unique feature. The level consists of grass tiles, electric tiles, lava tiles, and cheese tiles. Certain tiles have obstacles that will obstruct the player from reaching the end portal easily. 

 

Players must create a precise pathway using their beacons to guide the gems around the hazards in order to reach the exit. The game is completed when the required number of Gems have been rescued. The game consists of 3 levels. Gems will be lost and destroyed along the way.    

Responsibilities:

  • Designed level attributes and behaviors

  • Assisted in the creation of 3D art assets

  • Collaborated with other design departments to craft an engaging core gameplay loop
